Project Apartment Makeover: Coffee Bar

You may remember the addition to the kitchen…the “Coffee Bar”

Well that old dresser needed some TLC and it finally got finished this week! The veneer had warped and started to peel off, and one of the drawers had just disintegrated as it is an antique and seen better days…but with a little love, and some creativity from yours truly…it’s perfect!

I was able to get the rest of the old veneer off, and stain the wood to match-ish.  It’s not a perfect match, but it’s close enough.  And then The Hubby and I installed a piece of plywood for the bottom, and added hinges, and a “drawer front” to make it look like a drawer.

The center cubby holds all of our baking pans, muffin tins, cooling racks, and cutting boards!  No more shuffling them around from cupboard to cupboard to make them all fit!  They finally have a home!  Which frees up enough space in another cupboard for my Kitchenaid Mixer that I got for Christmas…that is still in the box, because I couldn’t find a place to store it!  And now I have one!  Yippie skippy!!

I am so happy with how it turned out!  And super proud of myself because it actually worked!  AND it only took 1, count em ONE trip to Home Depot to make it happen!  That is a first for us….seriously!  I think the entire project cost us around $40, so not too bad!

So many more Project Apartment Makeovers to go!!
