Week 31

How far along? 31 weeks

Due Date: October 23rd 2013

Baby is the size of a:  The Bump weighed in today at 2.12 pounds.  Only a .02 lb gain from 3 weeks ago…

Total weight gain:  Truth be told, I am avoiding the scale.  Seeing my weight go up and up, and The Bump stalled makes me feel horrible.

Maternity clothes? Seamless is the name of the game.  BeMaternity capri leggings and a cheap seamless tank from Ragstock are the way to go these days!

Stretch marks? None on the belly yet!

Sleep: Better the last few days, but I would prefer not to have pregnancy nightmares…the one from Sunday night left me on the verge of tears all day on Monday, and feeling sick.

Movement: Holy Hannah is this Bump moving!  Tons, and tons of movement pretty much all day.  The OB said she looked like a gymnast today!

Gender:  The Bump is a girl!

Names?  We’ve chosen Hadley as her first name…but are keeping her middle name a secret for now!

Best moment this week: Finding those anatomy ultrasound photos!!  I thought I’d lost them…just a nasty case of baby brain!

Miss Anything: Wine…I could use a glass after today’s appointment.

Food cravings: Fruit, fruit and more fruit!  Although last week I had a torrid love affair with a pint of orange sherbet.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really.

Labor Signs: None, the Braxton Hicks have subsided this week…thank goodness!

Symptoms: Hello heartburn!  Just in time to hear that The Bump may have a head of hair already!  The OB said it looked like she had a good patch going already!  She said it “looks like grass!”

Wedding rings on or off? On!  On, but getting snug, not tight yet.

Belly Button in or out? Still an innie!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Mostly happy, but feeling a little anxious.

Looking forward to: a healthy baby at this point.

Baby purchases: The crib mattress! The crib got assembled over the weekend, and it now has a mattress in it!  WOOT!

Another NST this morning.

The Bump was very active, and very cooperative!  She was just jamming this morning, which is awesome.  Perfect!

And then we had the follow up ultrasound to measure her growth…or lack thereof apparently.  She had only gained .02 pounds since the last one 3 weeks ago.  And obviously the OB was concerned…so the testing has been increased:

  • NST 2x per week
  • Brief scan 1x per week (to measure the fluid and check the umbilical blood flow)
  • Follow up ultrasound in 3 weeks

I can’t help but feel anxious and worry.  I had gone into the appointment very optimistic, and feeling like we would get good news all around.  But we didn’t.  It’s not all bad though…she has enough fluid, and the blood flow is good.  Plus she’s super active, so she has 3 great things going for her right now.  I just wish that her weight would be one of them.  So as of right now she is about 3-4 weeks behind size wise.

I have to continue to be positive, and stay optimistic.  Worrying will only make things worse…but that is so much easier said than done…

Someone else on the other hand…is very anxious for The Bump’s arrival…she’s already getting the rocker warmed up!
