I have gotten a few emails about how to Eat Clean on a budget. So I thought it was high time to do a post about it!
Eating clean does not have to be expensive! And you can get some great low-processed foods to add in that are inexpensive as well. But first, you need to figure out what your goals are for transitioning to Eating Clean. Do you want to lose weight, do you want to cleanse, or do you just want to try it? Making Clean Eating a lifestyle is an easy switch that you can make slowly.
So let’s take the first goal: to lose weight
Step 1: Set your weight loss goals. For this exercise we’ll say you want to lose those last 10 pounds. Remember to rev up your metabolism, you have to eat more to lose more. Yes, it sounds counter-intuitive…but it is absolutely true. So plan to eat up to 6 small meals per day, every 2-3 hours. The below meal plan is around 1600 calories…so be sure to get some exercise in there too.
Step 2: Create a meal plan.
Step 3: Set your budget, and make your shopping list. Now eating the same thing everyday will get boring, so be sure to mix it up a bit. the above is just one day’s worth…but enough to get you started thinking on your own. The above menu mixed up a bit for the rest of the week could probably be done for around $65 per week if you are smart about where you shop. Check out my post Fatter wallet, Slimmer you for some great shopping tips.
Step 4: Shop and meal prep! You can add low-processed foods into your diet, look for things with 5 ingredients or less…unless they are whole, natural ingredients. Then the fun part! Meal prep! Prepping can set you up to be successful…like measuring out those almonds into snack bags, baking the eggs, and broiling the fish and chicken all at once and getting them into individual containers will ensure that you have good, clean food at your fingertips ready to go anytime!
Proper planning, and prep will ensure that your goals of eating clean will be successful!
